Father Arnold Escobilla Zamora

Fr. Arnold entered the seminary at the early age of 12 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary, in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, Philippines, where he finished High School and his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy. He  obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas, Manila. He also took some masteral courses in Oriental Religion in the same university. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 7, 1986. After ordination, he was assigned as a formator, professor and music director of the same seminary where he started his vocation.

While pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Music at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, he continued his priestly ministry as an assisting priest in residence at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Quezon City. Upon graduation, he went back to teach in the seminary and also served as Chairman of the Commission on Music for the Diocese of Tagbilaran.

Pursuing his master’s degree in Liturgical Music in Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA, he also served as assisting priest in residence at Our Lady of Mercy, Daly City and also at St. Mark’s, Belmont, CA.

In 2004, he was appointed  Parochial Vicar of Star of the Sea Parish, San Francisco, In 2007, he was assigned Parochial Vicar of  St Brendan Church, San Francisco, He also serves as  Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor for the Philippine Consulate General/The Philippine Center, San Francisco.

Fr. Donald S. D'Angelo

REV. DONALD S. D'ANGELO was ordained a priest at Holy Name of Jesus Church in San Francisco on May 18, 1968 by Archbishop Joseph T. McGucken. Following his first assignment as Associate Pastor at St. Victor's in San Jose, Father D'Angelo was sent to Our Lady of the Pillar in Half Moon Bay. After serving five years there, he was appointed by Archbishop McGucken to be the Vocation Director of the Archdiocese in 1976. He took up residence at St. Bartholomew Church in San Mateo and worked at the Chancery Office. While working as Vocation Director, Archbishop John R. Quinn became the new Archbishop of San Francisco. The Archbishop appointed Father D'Angelo as his personal secretary and Master of Ceremonies at all Episcopal functions. After serving in these two capacities, Father was assigned as an Associate Pastor at St. Dunstan's Church in Millbrae. In January, 1985 Father D'Angelo was assigned to St. Robert's Church in San Bruno. After eight years he was made Pastor of St. Thomas More Church in San Francisco, then Parochial Vicar at the Church of the Nativity for four years. In 1999, Fr. D'Angelo was named pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Church.

Fr. D'Angelo went to the seminary in 1960 after graduating from George Washington High School. After completion of his first two years of college at St. Joseph's College in Mountain View he went on to St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park to complete his Philosophy Studies and to begin his study of Theology.

Fr. D'Angelo was born in San Francisco on August 7, 1941 at Dante Hospital. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Liborio D'Angelo. The family used to own D'Angelo Fish & Poultry on 30th Ave. and Noriega St. in the Sunset.

As a priest, Father has been the Coordinator for C.Y.O. for Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. He was the unofficial Chaplain of Half Moon Bay Police Department, Chaplain for San Mateo County Italian American Federation, and member of the AIDS Interfaith Ministry in San Mateo.

In 2003, Father was appointed, and recently re-appointed to his second term as Dean of Deanery 1 in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.  As Dean he also serves on the Council of Priests of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. He was elected by his fellow Priests and appointed by the Archbishop to the Priests’ Personnel Board.  He also served on the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal Stewardship Board.

On July 1, 2009 Fr. D’Angelo will finish his Ministry as Pastor of Holy Name of Jesus Church. On his retirement, he plans to do some work as a Chaplain on board cruise ships to places far and near. He will reside near Santa Cruz for a while, travel, and then live on the Peninsula helping with Masses and confessions when needed.
