How quickly the first month of the year has gone by. After that month of celebrations, here comes a month of participation when we involve ourselves with ministries and a lot of church activities. Starting with a Youth Mass this Sunday at the 9:30 mass and then continuing with the formation of our Children’s choir this Wednesday. Young people of our parish, join our Youth Group! Then, still younger people, join our Children’s Choir.
Celebrating Catholic School Week last week, one little girl, Chelsea Aguirre, [HN 2nd Grade] wrote in her handwritten project:
“My name is Chelsea and I’m seven years old. I’m in the second grade. Our classroom has lots of great things – dragons, snakes and more. We worked very hard to do those things. My teacher is Mrs. Aymard. Mrs. Aymard is very nice and wonderful.
We have science, art, computers, and music. In second grade we wrote Advent promises and spider facts. We do lots of work because in second grade we do lots of writing. In second grade we have field trips. We went to the Walt Disney Museum, and we went to a play.
My friends are nice to me. Their names are Maya and Jasmine. My 8th grade buddy is Krista. We will have Reconciliation soon. I hope everyone will be nice. But First Communion is coming even sooner and I can’t wait. You should bring your child or children to Holy Name because God is here.”
I was writing a Welcome Letter to some new parishioners this week. I should invite this little girl to be a part of our Hospitality or Welcome Committee.
The simple wisdom of a child can capture a lot of hearts.
A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work. As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."
The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like."
Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."
Heed Chelsea’s invitation, come and bring your children to Holy Name because God is here and you will see Him.
